City of Stockholm

30,000 islands of all sizes and forms make up the archipelago of Stockholm, the capitol of Scandinavia and home of 1,8 million people. This is the grounds where this city with its rich history, founded in the 13th century, is built upon.

Five city districts all contribute with their own unique character and places well worth visiting, making Stockholm a place to come back to over and again, and a place one will regret to never have visited. Take the winding, narrow streets of Gamla Stan – Old Town – and visit its many vintage stores and personal, exquisite restaurants, a short promenade will bring you to a completely other silhouette as you go into Östermalm, the financial district, home of the hottest nightclubs and most up-scaled shopping quarters. In the afternoon, why not savour a glass of wine or cold beer on one of the old boats - berthed by the embankment with a view of the city silhouette?

There is a great diversity of things to live and experience, presented within the city limits, ranging from small local art exhibitions and grand museums, to going on boat tours offering fantastic experiences of the archipelago, or taking walks in the vast, untouched Royal Park of Djurgården

There are four seasons, all different in nature. The winter can offer chilling cold weather at -20 degrees centigrade, the days are darker, but strapping on a pair of long bladed skates and heading out on the frozen lakes is a sense of freedom hard to match, only to top the day off at a cozy café with an open fire, enjoying a hot cup of chocolate with whipped cream. After a long winter, the snow melts away from the streets, flowers blooming and the birds escaping off to warmer destinations or the winter are starting to come back. The summer is hot, the streets are crowded, the parks are filled with pick-nicking people and people sitting at the edge of the embankments, feet bare, tasting an ice-cream is not an unusual sight. The fall is the season of colour, when the trees are preparing for winter’s sleep, celebrating the summer’s end in red, orange, yellow, brown, green and purple.

Stockholm has something for everyone, no matter when you visit or who you are.
