City of Tokyo

Tokyo is Japan’s capital city as well as one of the largest cities in the world.

If you keep an open mind, you will find many exciting things for every taste in the busy city of Tokyo.

The climate of Tokyo is diverse and ever-changing. It enjoys four clear seasons (some even say five seasons). Spring comes in April with ‘cherry blossom’ sign and the season lasts through June.  Summer commences with rain and hot humid temperatures at the end of June.  The first month of summer is also known as Tokyo’s rainy season. The sunny, hot and humid weather continues again until autumn begins at the end of September.  Autumn is generally mild and comfortable with cool nights followed by comfortable days.  During the winter season from December to the end of March, it is very cold and the occasional blanket of snow is not unheard of.

Tokyo has two main sectors. Both the residential areas and the thriving downtown area house culture and substance.  The residential areas basically consist of small shopping centers, houses, apartment homes and condominiums, and have generally quiet atmospheres.  In contrast, the downtown area, as may be expected, has a plethora of skyscrapers and office-buildings, high-rise residences, as well as many commercial areas.  The population living in Tokyo is around 12,823,500 and three percent of the population comes from foreign countries.  As multiple peoples and cultural groups live in the area, new cultural practices make their way into the everyday lives of the people of Tokyo. The diversified, always-changing ways always add new flavors to cuisine, fashion, technology, art and lifestyle of the city.

Tokyo has never stopped evolving.  There is always something new to encounter and new people and places with which to become acquainted. You should have no problem finding activities to suit your personal preferences and you will surely not have a lack of things to do or see.
