Gaslamp
Downtown San Diego’s Gaslamp district is an eclectic and electric mix of tastes, sights, sounds and scents.
To many foreign visitors, the perfectly maintained Victorian buildings, brick, tree-lined sidewalks with their boutiques, restaurants, and bars seems a bit like Main Street at Disneyland. But dig deeper and there are definitely a rich selection of dining and drinking pursuits that range from crass to class.
One of the highlights of Gaslamp is its compact size of about 16 square blocks and myriad of shopping, dining, and entertaining options within walking distance. While there are far to many to name, some of the best dining in downtown and San Diego’s best seafood can be found at The Oceanaire, Asian fusion at Red Pearl, amazing steaks at Greystone, simple authentic Italian at Aqua al 2, you can be the chef at The Strip Club, enjoy Chinese or Indian taste sensations at Blue Ginger or the adjacent Monsoon. There is also no shortage of entertainment outlets with some favorites offering dining, dancing and overnighting such as The Ivy, The Keating, Solamar, and The W The Sophia now offers a wine themed bistro named Currant.
