Pacific Beach
Pacific Beach, more commonly known as “PB,” and Mission Beach are non-identical twins situated on the beautiful Pacific.
Each one offers the rare, perfect combination of sun-drenched, seaside, college towns. PB and Mission Beach are youthful, hip, laid back and slightly irreverent communities where nomadic hipsters, tattooed gym rats, blond Barbies and Ken on beach cruisers mix with long time residents, and holiday visitors. This creates an eclectic mix of dining, drinking, entertainment, and shopping options that can please nearly every palette.
Though PB tends to be slightly more up-market, the farther north towards La Jolla you go, and Mission more subdued, There is nothing like a bike ride on the beachside boardwalk, a Sunday afternoon at Belmont Park, Sunday evening at the Wave House, or a Saturday night on the Terrace of Tower 23’s Bar & Lounge. There are hidden gems to be found like breakfast at the Broken Yolk Café a staple since the 1970’s, the best Italian home style cooking anywhere in town at Mamma Mia, and amazing tapas and sangria at Costa Brava.
By day and by night these communities are the ultimate escape for the work, study or travel weary, but be careful you may never want to leave. Just stroll the shops at Garnet avenue, surf left from Crystal Pier, cycle on a beach cruisers around the blocks or boardwalk, and crash one of the many house parties that take place during Super Bowl, 4th of July, Halloween, holiday weekends or any simple Saturday night occasion!
