Castello
Castello Sforzesco is the castle of the city, and actually together with “La Madonnina”, located on the top of the Dome, it is our second symbol.
The original construction on the site began in the 14th century. In 1450, Francesco Sforza began reconstruction of the castle, and it was further modified by later generations.
“Il Castello” represents the other entrance to the park and the gate that gathers everything to the city centre. From Piazza Castello, infact Via Dante with its numerous shops, museums, ruins, theatre, and schools starts, and ends in that renowned square where the Dome comes up.
From this place we can see Via degli Orefici, famous in the past for the many craftsmen, Via Meravigli, and therefore all the little and fascinating tunnel that we have in this city, and lastly Via Torino with its wild and subversive shops.
