Palladium, I love it and hate it at the same time.
Palladium is a trendy restaurant bar at the touristy Leidseplein. Yet admirably Palladium has somehow managed to deflect and distract the mass tourism and offers a living room for locals, a cozy location where you feel at home. A place where you start with a glass of wine at the bar, and stay longer than planned.
However it is not for their unfriendly and rude staff, neither for the crowd that can be characterized as idle real estate agents, nouveau riche, mendacious ‘millionaires’, stylish students and wanna-be celebrities. Nor can it be for their never dancing crowd, if it were a video on YouTube, you would be lead to believe the music was dubbed afterwards. Even their website deceives the true Palladium.
But every time I go, and I return often, I end up staying longer than planned. I don’t know why, it is just as mysterious as the myth of its name.
