From the creator of another one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego, Hash House-A-Go-Go, comes Tractor Room. The theme common thread here is American comfort cuisine, but there the similarities end. Johnny describes the design concept in a way that captures the true feel of this great escape of a dining experience.
It is the early 1930’s prohibition has banned the manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverages in the U.S. You venture down a Tennessee country road to what by day serves as a local workers lodge, and by evening becomes an illicit speakeasy. This 100 year-old cottage is warm and inviting, featuring the look and feel of a true hunting lodge, complete with antler chandelier, mounted elks heads, stuffed pheasants, and other displayed game birds. The ambience is warm, hidden, cozy and comfortable with thick tufted red leather booths, animal hide pillows, and hints of farm equipment/industrial.
From the rough-cut tree hewn wood bar come some of the best cocktails San Diego has to offer, fittingly, the bar is a focal point in this speakeasy themed restaurant. The tables are polished steel and appropriate backdrop for the “hunters” daily offerings including venison, buffalo, and wild boar in delicious, warm, flavorful and filling dishes that include stews, meatloaf, and tender from the bone specialties. Check it out and give a shout, I think you will agree this place is far out!
