With the financial meltdown globally comes strange bedfellows, government and taxpayers coming to the rescue of stock brokers and banks, and now top designers working with discount retailers! Rumor has it Alexander McQueen is on tap to do a Target Go International collection. Is this democracy, the free market or socialism at work? Whatever the case, now the masses can have Alexander McQueen in their closet. Whereas even McQueen's McQ Diffusion line can easily run upwards of $400 for a dress and $200 for a top, McQueen also already collaborates with Puma and Samsonite, this happy happening will mean that the mass can share the McQueen class.
Forget the McQueen sneakers (any old Pumas are just fine thank you) and $800 baggage will just be broken into, stolen or dinged up anyway. McQueen ala Target is just what we need to pull us out of the recessionary doldrums. So let's hope that the retailer, in keeping with a designer of such caliber, gets materials worthy of his work. In the meantime, keep everything you can cross crossed to make this rumor come true... Can you say McQueen for Target?
