Sweden's population is on the rise, but not because of the increase in babies being born. This population increase is due to the number of immigrants Sweden is taking. This year has been record breaking for the number of immigrants that sweden is allowing in. Why is this different then before? The large number of immigrants are choosing to live in areas near Sweden's Universities rather then the usual cities that attract large immigration populations. According to Sweden's recent statistic poll within the first 8 months of 2008 the population increase has gone up by 60,000 people; 70% of this increase is due to immigrants. The net immigration is at 43,000 which according to local newspapers is the highest net immigration numbers ever recorded. Without immigration many of the neighborhoods would have lost population.
