Turkish Prince of Pop: Tarkan

Turkish media calls him "megastar"... Foreign media calls him "prince of pop"... He is the best singer of Turkey... He is Tarkan!

 

Starting his music career in early 1990's, Tarkan is continuing his successful movements by winning many awards from Turkey or abroad. He has lots of albums and many songs that have been written by him. Besides preparing his albums, the singer also founded his own music company HITT Music & Production.

 

Among all the songs he wrote, especially the song called "Simarik" had a wonderful success and been loved by many Turkish and foreign people. It was chosen as number 6 in France and number 2 in Belgium; it was in the Top 20 of other European countries' music lists as well. After this success, more than 20 covers in more than 10 languages have been made for this song. I 2002, a famous Australian singer Holly Valance sang the song in English as "Kiss Kiss" and it became number 1 in the music lists of the United Kingdom.

 

Tarkan also prepared albums in English and has been very successful. Bounce, Start the Fire, and Why Don't We are some of the examples of his English songs. He also worked with world famous DJ Tiesto in one song called "Pare Pare", while he was marketing his album "Metamorfoz Remixes" in August 2008.
