Discovering gipsy music with Oi Va Voi

Meaning "Oh My God" in Hebrew language, Oi Va Voi is a special music group which consists of 6 young and talented musicians from London. Presenting a blend of West European Gipsy and Klezmer music with modern dance rhythms, Oi Va Voi's music is a nice combination of soul, ska, trip hop, drum'n bass, and Balkan rhythms.

 

In 2003, before launching their first album, the group had been awarded by BBC - Radio 3 Awards For World Music in crossing and listener categories. After launching their albums one by one in years, they created very loyal fans. The most famous songs of the group are Refugee, Gipsy, Yesterday's Mistake, Further Deeper, and 7 Brothers. The song called Refugee from Laughter Through Tears album became a hit in all over Europe in short time. Also, another song called Gipsy from the same album became very popular with its Hora and Balkan rhythms.

 

Another thing that has to be mentioned is their performance on stage. They create a great atmosphere while performing their songs. At the first moment I saw them on the stage of Babylon, a popular performance center in Istanbul, I was really amazed!
