Located in one of tawny Scottsdale’s most elevated and rustic neighborhoods, the master planned DC Ranch and McDowell Mountain … Patsy Grimaldi’s is a goldmine. Don't let master planned fool you, this area, and the village in which you find this “Italian Outpost” of a restaurant is reminiscent of a 19th century mining town.
Patsy Grimaldi’s is one of those restaurants where you love even though the food and the service are not off the chart, it is just really simple and good, service is friendly and the surrounding are pleasant making the whole package an enjoyable one. The pizza here is prepared authentic Italian style with thin crust made fresh in the house, and tossed to perfection before your eyes. The brick oven’s perfect cooking heat is generated by coal which according to Grimaldi’s is the secret behind its flavorful and crispy crust.
One other note, whatever Phoenix or Tucson location you visit, the heritage of this pizza is as pedigree as you can get, for Grimaldi learned his pizza making skills from his Uncle Patsy Lancieri who trained with the man credited with opening the first pizzeria in the US!
