I explored one of Phoenix area's most scenic waterways, Lake Pleasant, over Memorial Day Weekend with uber-StyleXplorer Brian H. (San Diego), Brian (Scottsdale) and Dennis (San Diego). Described by National Geographic as "a lake north of Phoenix", we left the bristling quay 10 Bells in our superb motorlaunch and jetted on a northerly course at 45 knots. We first entered a well-concealed canyonesque fjord (the only one west of Svaalstadtirks, Norway) and spied a corps of cormorants (rara avis, indeed!) perched on a seamount that arose from thousands of fathoms below. After a refreshing luncheon of blueberry vodka-infused pan-seared cormorant de la Vega, we then sped north another 3 leagues to a larger cove where we discovered all manner of pleasure craft arrayed in phalanxes reminiscent of the Battle of Lepanto. However, hegemony of the eastern Adriatic was not our goal but dominion of hors d'ouerves and windex cocktails provided by our maritime crewes. Enjoying the scorching heat of the desert doldrums, we bravely tested the soothing waters of this forgotten glacial lake. As the sun dipped below the crest of the iconographic Sierra Gordo Diablo mountains, we sailed our way back into the marina all the time wondering whose bikini top had been lashed to our standard as a provocative pennant. Can you solve the mystery?
