Following her Oscar-winning interpretation of Edith Piaf, Marion Cotillard has become a Hitchcock-esque heroine and symbol for French luxury. There is a definite of French style that she expresses, a way of being glamorous and yet natural in all circumstances, even the most hectic.
In choosing Marion Cotillard as a muse for the famous "Lady Dior" bag, the famous fashion house has hit the perfect note. Marion is able to sublimate her charming side "girl next door" for a more je-ne-sais-quoi poisonous elegance that makes her presence in this retro-magical campaign magnetic.
Along with the print campaign comes an explosive cocktail, brilliantly directed by Olivier Dahan in ... "The Lady Noire Affair," a short promotional film, produced in an early1960's style, yet incorprating 1930's deco. The film's visual cues are an ode to Hitchcock and Marion Cotillard embodies a troubling unknown, involved and somewhat dark history. The composition is brilliant and captures the Lady Dior mystique... Bravo!
