San Diego Gets Sportie (Sportie LA)
953 Fifth Avenue (google maps)
I think the below quote best describes this Mecca for sneaker fans and fanatics alike, when it comes to sneakers, trainers or takkies, whatever you call them from wherever you come, face east and head south to Sportie LA now in San Diego! I used to order mine (i have more than 120 pairs of sneakers some dating back to the 1980's), now I can walk there from my downtown home.
San Francisco Business Times - June 2009
Like Sportie LA's flagship store on Melrose Avenue, the 3,500 square foot San Diego shop features more than 50 brands and offers two different shopping experiences. The front of the store accommodates the frenzied hustle and bustle for which Sportie LA is so well known, while a gallery area called the Library - home to only 12 brands - gives customers a chance to explore special releases and limited offerings.
MWB - March 2009
"Footwear stores - Shoe shop sanctuary"
Marketing and Sales strategy guru David Butler picks his top five footwear stores from across the globe. Competing with great stores from London to Tokyo, Sportie LA based in Los Angeles, California was featured as one of David's top five footwear stores.
"This is not a shop, it's an institution. What's more it's a shrine to sneakers. Rappers, NBA stars and half of Hollywood buy their shoes there."
