Michelangelo tried to break his own masterpiece, on which he worked for 10 years. Jack Wasserman wanted to search for the reasons. He worked with the researchers from IBM Watson Research Center and got the opportunity to examine the masterpiece closely. IBM’s researchers prepared a perfect close digital replica of the Pieta. With this 3D display technique, even the marks of Michelangelo’s tool were obvious. If you’re interested, you can closely see the Pieta without visiting Floransa Opera del Duomo with this technology.
