Most people prefer to put their modern art on their walls rather than their feet, but to each his own... for those who prefer to wear their art, Adidas and Y-3 have teamed with New York artist MOMO to add his street art to the Adidas Y-3 HAYWORTH II MID.
MOMO, the grafitti artist whose vivid geometric explosions can be found tagged in and around Manhattan has collaborated with Y-3 on a limited-edition sneaker, and in my book they are awesome!
Momo painted three different designs to be cut and formed into a pattern. How it would look in the end was a complete surprise to the artist, he says, fortunately a good surprise. The 350 pair of these artistic kicks will retail for about $380 at Y-3 stores. I am sure even at tthat price they will not last!
MOMO is already a standout on the street art scene with his abstract renderings on the streets of NYC, he is much like a 21st Century Keith Herring. The collection features three versions which reflect Momo’s high flying style and unique design skills. They tell me they'll be available in October at exclusive Y - 3 retailers.
