Brainchild of design demi-god, Phillipe Starck, the SLS Beverly Hills has, since its opening in December of 2008, become a bastion of quirky elegance in the manicured microcosm of West Hollywood bordering Beverly Hills.
Standing at the forefront of his eccentric vision however, is Murray Moss’s innovative ‘shop-without-walls’. Integrated seamlessly with "The Bazaar" LA’s only four-star restaurant. Large metal vitrines and cabinets of artistic curiosities fill the space - these eclectic showcases are a feast for the eyes and provide a visual contrast with the restaurant’s expansive darkwood tables.
The Bazaar offers Moss’s customarily eclectic array of knick-knacks, chintz and curiosities – diners, guests and visitors alike are free to peruse the sweet-shop-style store until midnight every night.
The selection is fantastic and a fantasy that features drammatic porcelain pieces, liquid-like chandeliers, sunglass-adorned Renaissance busts and piles of multicoloured macaroon candles all available, even the most irregular of interiors appetites should be satisfied.
All this is not to even mention the fantasy conjured up in cocktails and food, their are copius applications of liquid nitrogen freezing fanciful flavors in culinary muses that range from cotton candy wrapped foie gras and a nitro mojito that will chill and thrill as you cannot imagine. More to come from this most fantastic new favorite on my list!
