For those who rejoiced at the "death" of the Metrosexual make... hold your applause please. The trend is not over by a long shot, this is evidenced across the globe, even in rugged Australia!
If your definition is a man who tends to his physcial appearance, uses more than shampoo and bar soap, and dresses in more than khakis and collared shirts, then the metrosexual male is alive and well. Let's just say he is evolving. This male still puts thought, often quite deep, including reading and blogging to find the best personal care products, he dresses to impress - not necessarily to show wealth, but to express himself as a man who cares about how he looks and one who expresses his lifestyle through what he wears, products he uses, music he listens to, transportation he uses and character, ranging from Edwardian to Emo and Preppy to Punk.
Now I give you yet another case for this perhaps "Retrosexual" male. Freemans Sporting Club was conceived of by a group of friends who regularly partied together above Freemans Restaurant in New York City. Like many of their contemporaries this urban tribe planned weekend escapes including camping, hunting and fishing. In 2004, when Taavo Somer created his menswear line using vintage fabrics and thrift store samples it was only natural that the garments be named, F.S.C., after the club, ideals and activities that inspired them." Their lifestyle has lead to the creation of a lifestyle brand that I consider among the best... and one that is here to stay!
Freemans Sporting Club is leading the trend we are begining to see here in NYC in stylish spades, that trend is a return to handmade clothing. FSC says their clothing is made to be durable, worn day in and out. They truly do succeed in their mission to "create classically styled clothing to stand the test of time and last long enough to be willed to (their customers) heirs." Take a look at their online shop (click here) and be sure to visit their store in New York as well as their men's grooming and barber shop... I have gone several times and let's just it is the present that my girlfriend knew that I wanted for Valentine's Day.
