La Jolla has few choices when it comes to a club scene, most evenings this elegant yet sleepy hamlet closes down by 10:00pm. With the demise of my former favorite, Excelsior Brasserie, there is really only Jack’s left for later evening fun. Jack’s premiered to great fanfare, a unique three-story venue combining various levels of dining, bar and lounge experience.

The style is a unique combination of sporty nautical elegance, with sail like sheathing on walls and atrium ceilings alike. The food is minimal in size but maximum in creativity and taste. The wine list is substantial and the top shelf liquors can be combined into any concoction you desire. Thursday nights are the top night in this venue, the crowd packs in and the music plays until past 1:00am. Only one warning guys, watch out for the cougars who have adopted this hip den as one of their stalking grounds.
