This is my first report on StyleXplorers, I discovered your site whilst searching for some rustic and handmade trends in merchandising and design and I can't tell you who pleased I am to have found a home for me creative knowledge and expression.
In my first reports I will showcase the trend towards local and artisinal with a twist of pre-industrial era design and production. I think this trend fits with your editorial about "Villagization." Now, I introduce you all to Hooper & Shaw – "an emporium of wonderful things" indeed. Hooper & Shaw showcase the finest emerging and established artists from in and around one of my favourite escapes from London... Cornwall.
Hooper & Shaw was established by Nicole Heidaripour and Daniel Scott who live and work in Cornwall. Their aim is "to promote the original and the hand made – featuring work that has it roots in traditional and skilled techniques, yet that explores unusual and contemporary styles and ideas."
Their product line is one that is in fact curated as in an exhibition of art, and it's quite fitting as their of beautiful work is both accessible and exciting. They offer an exceptional array of innovative and creative wares that range from exclusive artwork and limited edition prints and books to wonderful screen-printed textiles, sketchbooks and stationary, as well as handmade creatures, creations and toys.
Whether you are looking for a unique piece of work, a special gift or perhaps something fantastic for the home, there will always be an exciting and distinctive display of work for your perusal. This is just one of many fine examples of a movement towards the handmade, no longer kitsch this trend is one that I think will go quite well mainstream and that bodes well for all of us in nations whose economies are being ravaged by foreign mass manufacturers of rubish.
