Escape the Shopping Blues (Big Blue Sky UK)
Warham Road (google maps)
Big Blue Sky is simply shopping as it should be – inspiring, original, local. If you haven’t had a chance to visit Big Blue Sky then you really should. It is a chance to discover the best of Norfolk’s art, craft and design where the emphasis is on craftsmanship and quality. They only sell things that are made in Norfolk.
Set in an old garage in Wells-next-the-sea Big Blue Sky is light, airy and unpretentious - really more of an emporium than a shop. It has an eclectic, quirky and sometimes humorous collection of fabulous things for your house, your garden and your life. You cannot miss the big blue building with its jolly flags, bunting and quirky signposts. There is plenty of parking and the shop has easy access for all.
Once inside it is like a treasure trove full of colour, imagination and laughter with an ongoing exhibition of local artists – a strong mix of paintings, photographs, printmaking, ceramics and sculpture. There is a remarkable collection of local books, some delicious goodies and lots of useful things that we all need from time to time. Not to forget the brilliant presents for all your family and friends.
At Big Blue Sky they choose products from individual artists, designers and makers who are based in Norfolk. They also work with small businesses from all over Norfolk. So if you know someone who we haven't found the proprietors ask for customers to let them know. The proprietors of Big Blue Sky only sell things that they love and their love and dedication show in the store concept and service as well as the products. If you like the idea of something, but it's not quite right, they encourage customers to call or email to talk directly to the makers who then will try and get you exactly what you want.
