Puma AG and Sagem Wireless have announced a collaboration to create the first Puma Phone. Calling the device an "active smartphone," the Puma phone will feature all of the basics, like HSPA networking, a 3.2-megapixel camera and a 2.8" QVGA touchscreen, and will also pack some features for athletic types and Puma fans.
Four outdoor use, the Puma Phone will feature GPS for routing, mapping and geotagging, as well as a compass and a pedometer. While the phone is outside, it can be charged with the solar cell on the back, and a battery indicator tells you when it's full. The interface, with it's carousel-based menu design, was built from the ground up for the Puma Phone.
Though it doesn't use a traditional smartphone OS, Sagem Wireless and Puma say that applications will be available for the device, and customers will also be able to view live video streams, from popular sports matches, for instance. Puma customers will also be able to shop via the mCommerce destination.
The Puma Phone will be available on European mobile networks and directly from Puma's own stores starting this April, 2010.
