A Grocery Store Like No Other (Fresh and Easy)
I feel the need to pronounce my loyalty to the grocery store Fresh and Easy. When I moved back to San Diego in August I was turned on to this store and I will never shop anywhere else. Fresh and Easy is owned by Tesco, so when I walked in for the first time I felt like I was back in Ireland and it was love at first sight.
The primary reason I love Fresh and Easy is their ridiculously low prices. Their regular prices beat the local competition’s sale prices. Pillsbury Funfetti Frosting at Fresh and Easy is still about five cents cheaper then Albertson’s sale price on Funfetti. Also the Fresh and Easy brand product and inexpensive and great quality!
Another reason Fresh and easy is fantastic is their pre-made meals. These little packages of goodness are truly “fresh and easy”. I go to the store decide what I would like: Mango Chicken and Rice, Chicken Florentine, or Cheesy Tortellini With Creamy Tomato Sauce just to name a few. They have pre-made entrees ranging from pastas, beef, chicken and seafood. The meals are all made fresh and ready to eat, I put them in the microwave and I have a gourmet meal. This is perfect since these days I have less and less time to eat, I get a great meal without having to turn on my stove and dirty my pans. Meals come in different serving sizes (for 2 to 5 people) and prices (from about $3 to $9).
The last reason I love Fresh and Easy is their “discount” section. In each store there is a section that has food near its expiration date. Food on the shelves ranges from cakes, pre-made salads, meats, pre-made meals and sushi. I always check this place first and stock up on whatever is there. Some of the pre-made meals freeze very nicely and saves me money. The discount you get on this food varies but I have seen $5.50 sushi down to $0.97. You cannot beat those deals.
So, if you have not checked out this store you are really missing out. Sadly Fresh and Easy is only in California, Arizona, and Nevada but if you live in any of those states you are in luck. Go to their website and find where the closest one is to you and get ready to have the most amazing food shopping experience!

very interesting report! It must be a pretty new chain, because when I lived in San Diego it was not around yet. Cant wait to see it myself on my next visit to CA!

Totally agree. I went there a few times and had amazing deals on amazing foods. It is a different way to "Grocer", and I like it!
