Show romanization
BMW have unveiled the next sixth generation 5-Series. After debuting at the Geneva Motor Show, the reputation of our Bavarian friends was once again heightened.
As unique as the current generation 5-series looks, the 2011 is more a reflection of BMW's 3 and 7 series models.
This new 5er was made on the basis of the BMW 7-Series, the platform of which was shortened by 10 centimeters. The 5-series car is now 58 mm longer than the previous generation (80 mm longer wheelbase) this allowws for a more sleek appearrance and a 13 mm increase in legroom for the rear passengers.
The BMW "adaptive chassis" is governed by electronics. This 5er promises the same manageability as a compact 3er. Weight distribution is a perfect 50:50. This ideal distribution is achieved by shifting the engine outside the wheelbase, as well as active use of aluminum in the suspension and body design.
The new 5-series offers aange of engines - the diesel 184 hp up to 407-strong biturbo, the car accelerates to 100 km / h in 5 seconds. Diesel, petrol, automatic and manual options are available. Though this car is very subtle in design, reports seem to speak to a wolf in sheeps clothes.
