When the City is Your Canvas (Stella Artois - The Ritual Project)

As I continue my StyleXploration of the manmade canyons and crevasse of New York City, i often marvel at the work of sign painters who are becoming unfortunately a scene less seen amongst the trend towards the sythetic and quite stale vinyl applications of "modern" billboards.

 

I particularly love discovering the remnant painted billboards of bygone eras when I discover them on walls of buildings that I have either not passed before or whose walls are recently re-exposed, albeit for a short time, due to the removal of an adjacent building and construction of something new.

 

Stella Artois’ Ritual Project was conceived to celebrate the meticulous ceremony that goes into pouring a perfect glass of lager. The video which can be seen by clicking HERE gave the ritual life and paid respect to this disappearning art on a wall mural high above Manhattan. The Ritual Project WEBSITE also celebrates the mural and Stella Artois’ tradition inside the folklore of painted advertising and street documentaries.

 

This campaign is pure perfection in my opinion it is proof that rituals shouldn’t be treated lightly... Thank you Stella Artois!
