The Blood of Masters in their Veins (The Young Veins)
Last night I heard for the first time a band I had to share here, the Young Veins. I hate to brand these brilliant musicians as either retro or nostalgic, but they are in fact that and so much more. This brilliant group opened for Rooney at the House of Blues, they are part of Rooney's Summer Tour a must hear as well.
I would describe their sound as 1964 meets 2010. The sound is influenced (not a copy) by early Beatles (think "With the Beatles" and "A Hard Days Night"), the Monkeys and I would say The Yard Birds, definitely more of a British invasion "Mod" / "Pop" influence, then add in a bit of 1990's Sound Garden and the rest is up to the present and brilliance of former Panic! at the Disco musicians Ryan Ross and Jon Walker.
Their new album and hit single of the same name, "Take a Vacation" are the just the begining of I am sure brilliant things to come, the album, I purchased an LP they were selling bundled with a cd which btw has a graphic design stratight out of 1964. The CD label is even designed to look like a View Master
Their new album is already one of Spin Magazine's top 25 for this summer. Be sure to check their wesbite and MySpace out. I would safely say these American artists are a home grown lead in the thrid Brit Pop invasion.
