Shanghai Surprise! (Warrior Footwear)

Shanghai,

This iconic shoe brand, started in Shaghai in 1935, 14 years before the Communist revolution became a cultural icon and houseold staple for any athelete in China through the 1980's when the company all but disappeared.

 

After being resurrected in 2008, Warrior Footwear is making its debut and causing quite a stir in the United States and elsewhere.  In their May edition, GQ Magazine rated Warrior one of the top ten sneakers for summer 2010.

 

I love their casual, simple style, they remind me quite a bit of my favorite Nike Wimbeldon's from the 1980's canvas only in this case.  Instead of the famous Nike "Swoosh" there are a variety of "trident" like or rounded three stripe elements, other models are reminiscent of Vans, Converse and PF Flyers.  In the case of Warrior I think the knock off nature is a plus and one that gives the shoes, believe it or not, a uniqueness about them.
