I have been to Amsterdam numerous time in the last 8 years and just recently discovered the 9 streets (de 9 straatjes), thanks to my little sister. Last year when I was living in the Netherlands, my sister and I planned a girls day out. My sister discovered the 9 streets while google activities in Amsterdam. My sister is really into vintage clothing, shoes and accessories, and the 9 streets are the perfect place to find vintage clothing, shoes, accessories and antique stuff. :) The streets also have many small cafes, restaurants, coffee places (don't mistake that in Holland coffee shop means marijuana shop) jewelry, bakery shops, chocolate, toys, gift shops,etc...
Even though it poured down raining the whole day we went, my sister and I had amazing time! A memory that will last forever.
The 9 streets are side streets located between the Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsenkracht. "Gracht" means canal in English. So when you walk up these canals you will find these side streets, each street has the "de 9 Straatjes" logo on the street sign to identify it as one of the 9 streets. These streets are located downtown, just off the main shopping area in Amsterdam. For more directions go to the "De 9 Straatjes" website. :)
