This film, directed by famed music photographer Anton Corbijn, is a masterpiece in mod British performance and a beautiful and haunting tribute to the late "Joy Division" singer Ian Curtis played by rising British star, Sam Riley (27).
Based upon a Deborah Curtis' novel "Touching From A Distance" the stellar rise and tragic fall of one of my favorite musicians traces his love for wife, and girlfriend, and battle with epilepsy along the road to success with Joy Division.
The film is set in the prime years of the mod movement of the early to mid 1960's and is as beautiful cinematically, as the storyline and music (including a score by New Order) are. Whether you are a fan of the band, the singer, or mod society in general, you must experience this movie.
