Five years ago, almost Japanese didn't know about Korean food so much, however, we have lots of Korean food and tremendously familiar with it now.

Actually, the hottest trend restaurants is Spanish bar, though. In this a few years, increase of Spanish bar has standed out in Ebisu, Tokyo. Spanish bar has particular style which is beverage with tapa. Almost beverages and tapas are around $5, it's cheap in Ebisu. For Japanese people, French food is the ambassador as european food, and we have strong image that it's very expensive. So Spanish bars are getting popular because of the  trendy image; european but not expensive.

Another reason why Spanish bars are so popular now, is the standing style. Some of the Spanish bar in Ebisu don't have chairs. It's easy for customers to mingle each other.
