Only in Los Angeles, right? But actually I hope many other places as well to come! The nation's first certifiably green gasoline station sports a futuristic metal canopy covered in shiny triangles of uncoated, recyclable stainless steel.
This petrol station is an amazing experience, off the typical list of those who may visit LA for the Hollywood, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills experience, you have got to add this to your list here's why...
The station is built entirely from recycled materials, metals and glass alike, the staff wear cool uniforms made from 1 litre PET bottles, they are cool in summer and warm in winter one "Green Team" attendant told me. The Green Team will check all your fluids and tire pressure, just like the old days, and for no extra charge, another environmental "efficiency" element.
Even the plants around the station are drought tolerant and feed from water that condenses at night and runs off from roof and canopy.
BP's new green gas station is an extension of the company's "Beyond Petroleum" marketing campaign that has highlighted the oil company's investments in solar and other forms of alternative energy.
