It is true, apple created a vending machine especially for their apple products. I’ve run into them in Macy’s and heard from other people these machines are in other places as well. The machine sells different products from earphones to i-pods and digital camera’s (also Samsung, Panasonic). Where does this craziness stop?
People can only go to vending machines or automated shops to receive products, will the profession of salesman be a disappearing job? I certainly hope not, the way of selling these products is way too impersonal and there is no way to ask for additional information.
The apple vending machine is a cool gadget but in my opinion it will always be a gadget and won’t evolve further. The pricelevel for using a vending machine (the price at which people are willing to buy something from a vending machine) hasn’t reached the consumers level. Probably this will take a lot of years. Either the consumers will raise their price level, or the prices of the products have to drop significantly. Let’s just keep it at Mars, Snickers and Coca Cola in the machines and leave all the other products in the stores.
