"Haridwar" : The name means "Gateway to God"
Haridwar is name of a city in Uttrakhand which is a state in north of New Delhi (India). City is known for its mystical power and mythological experiences. One of the most holliest places in India where Millions of pilgrims, devotees, and tourists come in search of peace from all over the world.
Haridwar located in the foothills of the Himalayas, respresents the point where the Ganga (Main indian river also known as "Ganges" in english), reaches the plains.
Legend has it that the holy Ganga, the holliest of all rivers, which flows through this sacred city has actually been sanctified by the powerful Trinity of Hindu mythologyand the centre of the pantheon - Lord Shiva, Lord Brahma & Lord Vishnu.
In the evening the ghats (broad flight of steps situated on river bank & provides access to holly water) look breathtakingly beautiful, as thousands of diyas & marigold flowers float & illuminate the holly water. Misty air is full of chants, matras and prayers by the time sun sets. At this moment you can actually have a glimpse of your inner soul (i got goosebumps while writing this literally).
If you are in search of inner peace and wants to go on a spiritual journey "Haridwar" will fill you with contentment.
