Back in the hotel heyday from the 1920's through the 1950's. The hotel was far from a bland comfortably familiar yet faceless place to sleep. Instead, then as now, many hotels were a part of people's lifestyles, they were a destination, a retreat, a place to enjoy, see and be scene or skulk away in pampered privacy.
