Magic Summer of Stockholm magazine
Summer in Stockholm is something magic. After a long winter's hide, the sun and warmth melt away all the coldness that seemingly kept the city under its reign of short days and puppets in thick, warm jackets. The summer truly brings out the best in people and the elevated spirits create an energy that is almost tangible.
People that seem to have hybernated during the winter, are slowly daring to yet again live under the bright long summer nights as gravel used on the slippery iced streets is sweeped away as a clear sign of spring.
Restaurants, clubs, bars, pubs and cafés that are opening up their streetside beer gardens and terraces are another sign of spring and early summer, and the sun-and-warmth insatiable socializers quickly fill these hot-spots, milking every drop of sun.
As summer progresses, the summer nights are longer and brighter with as little as 4 hours of night per day, and the skies create fantastic paintings of a full palette of colors, soothing the nightbirds with the tepid summer breeze.
If clubbing or enjoying a glass of wine at one of the beer gardens overlooking the coastal inlet and city skyline isn't enough, boats will take you out in the archipelago to small islands where a good seafood lunch will give you enough energy to swim in the afternoon sun or look for antiques and rarities at one of the archipelago fairs.
Stockholm is all about enjoying life in the summer and socializing, whether it is picknicking in one of the many parks, take long walks at
Djurgården with its many museums or take a drink on one of the boats, wharfed by the embankments.
Be welcome. And enjoy.
