Volvo is a global company that has done good for years. When it comes to safety tests and getting the top dollar for your money, Volvo has been a respectable company.
Yet recently Volvo has announced that they are letting go of at least 600 workers in Skovde, and houndreds of employees in the town of southwestern Gothenberg.
The engineer department is getting hit the hardest. Due to the global economical crisis in countries such as North America and Europe, the low demand for new cars is on the rise. The main cause for this is because the fact that many consumers want to wait and see how things will continue to progress in the global economy. Since the continuing drop in sales around the world, Volvo is being forced to let go of most part time employees, internships, and recruit companies. There is not enough demand to keep the employment at a steady rate. The economy will continue to rise and fall, but "society will go on."
